It’s so easy, so cheap, and so rewarding. Bone Broth freezes easily, and can be added to so many things like soup bases, steaming vegetables, in dressings, gravies, and even drunk like tea.
Store-bought broths can have added unhealthy ingredients like MSG and preservatives. When making your own bone broth, you have complete control over what’s in it, and the quality of bones you use. It’s important to use organic grass-fed or pasture-raised animal products due to the hormones, antibiotics, etc. they give to animals raised in mass-manufactured processing plants.
What you’ll need:
A crock pot
Grass-fed beef bones
Pasture-raised chicken bones
Vegetable scraps (in my bag I had scraps of carrot, green onions, zucchini ends, asparagus ends, celery, herb stems, turmeric, and ginger skins.)
Filtered water
1 TBS Apple cider vinegar (this helps draw out more nutrients from the bones)
Salt and pepper
Optional- Red pepper flakes if you like a spicy kick.
Save your vegetable scraps in a Ziploc bag that lives in your freezer, when you have enough saved up along with your bones, it’s time to make some delicious broth!
You simply set your crockpot on low for 24 hours, drain, and enjoy the healing benefits of this amazing ancestral knowledge.
Bone broth can be used as a soup base, to steam vegetables, in dressings and gravies, or even drank like tea.
To your health!
