"I have been a patient of Dr. Kayleigh Short for 3 years. Dr. Short focuses on my dental health in a proactive and systematic manner while taking my economic interests at heart. She is very efficient and gets the job done quickly, precisely, and without the need for a follow up visit. She is also very calm and collected during a procedure. The end result is that I trust her, my dental health is great, and that impacts my overall health and well-being in a positive manner. Dr. Short has a great personality which makes it easy to sit in the chair. I also give accolades to her assistant-Kelsie, who is the best dental technician I have ever had, very knowledgeable and engaged."
-Roland Dunatov, Sammamish WA

"I trust her, my dental health is great"

"I hated going to the dentist. It was a nightmare. Scary. When we came to see Dr. Short, right away, I felt comfortable. She put me at ease. I thought she would make me feel bad for my bad teeth, but she was very kind and helped me to fix them and helped teach me how to take care of them the right way. Now going to the dentist is fun and enjoyable!"
-Isaiah, age 13

"Going to the dentist is fun"

"I had a lot of bad teeth. Lots of cavities. The other dentist I had seen wanted me to have surgery to take them out. My mom wanted to find another way. So we came to see Dr. Short. She helped fix my teeth and make them look nice. After some time, one of my teeth started hurting really bad and needed to be removed. I was scared, but Dr. Short and Ms Kelsie helped me feel comfortable so that they could take the tooth out. She showed me how to take good care of my teeth so now they are staying nice. She is really kind and caring."
-Mikayla, age 9

"She is really kind and caring"

"Dr. Short is warm and kind and knowledgeable. In our time with her, she consistently brings forth a wealth of wisdom and compassion paired with play and creativity. Her approach is expansive, enveloping trauma-informed, empathetic, holistic, and caring. I felt seen and held in her care and my children have had positive dental services because of her support and treatments. I wholly recommend her services to any mother, woman, person I know. I am delighted to know Dr. Short. Her team and practice are competent, compassionate, wise, safe, and creative. What a gift they are and what luck for those of us who have found her clinic."
 -Lindsey W.

"I wholly recommend her services"

"In my short forty-one years, I've had the misfortune of needing a high volume of dental care. Yet, in 2021 I had the great fortune of coming upon the most skilled, compassionate dentist of my life in finding Dr. Short. She is bar none the BEST dentist of my life. Not only does she provide the highest technical quality in her care, her centered, supportive, and irreverent approach is what anyone would want while sitting in the hot seat. I've never felt so reassured in the vulnerable position of being a patient. What a treasure it is to be cared for by someone so kind and capable; may every person be so fortunate."
-Kim J.

"I've never felt so reassured "

"When health issues warranted removal of my mercury amalgams--both in fillings and as residues under my crowns, Dr. Short went above and beyond to guard my health as she basically reconstructed my mouth. Start to finish, her work was exceptional. My bite's great, teeth are beautiful, and her safe procedures couldn't have been more meticulous. I'm grateful. I'd choose her again in a heartbeat."
-Cheryl B

General & Payment FAQ's

Traditional dentistry focuses on a dental problem and a chair side solution. Wholistic dentistry dives deeper and addresses why the issue arose, how it can be prevented in the future, what lifestyle/emotional/genetic/home hygiene factors are contributing and what changes can be made. We listen to your story and support your wellness journey. Not only do we seek out causes and solutions, we choose the safest, individually biocompatible materials when restorations are necessary to ensure the minimal systemic impact, and we uses the safest known measure when removing old restorations. All to create the least impact on the body and the greatest health and dental restoration outcomes.

What is the difference between wholistic dentistry and traditional dentistry?

Yes! We accept all insurances, except State insurance. We are a fee for service office (see next question) and we are an out-of-network provider with all insurances. This means that when insurances provide their fee scale for in-network and out-of-network, we classify as out-of-network. Though we do not offer pre-authorization, as a courtesy, we do file your insurance claims for you. We have a great insurance team that will file and follow up with any denied claims. Please note, you will need to inform us of any denied or missing claims, as we are not notified directly.

Do we accept insurance?

We are a fee for service office. This means, we collect payment in full, at the time of service.

What does fee for service mean?

Though our financial policy is for payment in full, we understand the large financial strain this can be, especially with extensive dental treatment plans. We do have payment options such as the use of TuaPay (a third party lender), please ask for these details at the time of your treatment presentation.

What are the payment options?

Please be aware, we are a small office with no designated front desk person. During work days, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, we are typically chair side with patients and we return calls and emails between patients as our schedule allows. Please email, leave a voicemail or text the office phone (425-599-5475) and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Phones will be monitored on Friday-Monday and only emergencies will be addressed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Frequently Asked Questions

Services FAQ's

Whether you are a patient of record or an inquiring individual looking for additional information, referral options, anything involving holistic dentistry, we can coordinate a phone or zoom consultation. Though we we will not be able to give treatment recommendations, we can thoroughly discuss the pros, cons, risks, and benefits of your treatment choices and provider choices.

Do you offer phone consultations?

We do NOT offer root canal treatment at WDC. If a root canal is your preference, we have incredible referral endodontists, root canal specialists, that use the Gentle Wave technique and ozone disinfection at the time of treatment.

We do most extractions at this office. We go through extensive measures to manage pain, inflammation, anxiety and optimal healing. We use multiple modalities to ensure the tooth is completely removed, the PDL (periodontal ligament) is removed and all infection is removed.

Extraction vs root canal therapy

Yes, we love to see children and whole families. From infant on up, we can begin to establish trust and create a dental home. Thorough assessment will be completed to reduce risk and resolve dental caries, airway issues, arch development concerns, nutrition and more. We are very conscious of the risk of dental trauma as well as determined to do successful and lasting dental work on children. Therefore, if it is determined between Dr. Short and a child’s parent, referrals to a pediatric specialist are on a occasion, in the best interests of the child. Following resolution of the pediatric dental concern with the specialist, care can resume with us at Wholistic Dental Care.

Do you see children?

At this time, we do not offer orthodontic treatment. We have specialists we refer to that take into account whole body wellness, structure, arch development, airway, neurological impact, and esthetics.

Do you do orthodontics/braces?

Yes, we currently place Swiss Dental Systems zirconia (ceramic) implants.

Do you do implants?

Yes, please ask us at your dental visit about nutrient options that are specific for your dental and health goals.

Do you offer IV therapy?

This is the latest in biocompatible grafting, no synthetic or bovine/cadaver options needed. Using your extracted tooth, when possible (we do not use extracted root canal teeth), we can grind, disinfect and create an autologous graft for your extraction site(s).

What is the KometaBio Dentin Grinder?

We use ozone in a variety of forms. Ozone gas, oil or water is used depending on the modality/treatment we are performing. Note, many ozone therapies are available for those who are non-established dental patients, see our services page and social media for options.

Do you use ozone?

Yes, we use PRP/PRF in all of our surgical procedures as well as our facial esthetic procedures (available for non-dental patients).

Do you use PRP/PRF?

We use the Swiss technology, Guided Biofilm Therapy Airflow system. This is the least invasive, most thorough teeth cleaning technology according to the research. Effective and comfortable for children, adults, those with sensitive teeth, and those with chemical/material sensitivity concerns.

What do you use for hygiene (prophy/teeth cleaning)?

No. We regularly review our material choices for the best interests and greatest patient biocompatibility. We do not use metals, BPA or fluoride.

Do you use metals, BPA or Fluoride?

We offer the BioComp Labs Materials Reactivity Testing, the most thorough in blood testing from materials reactivity. Additionally, we can do chair side muscle testing or send you with samples for your naturopath/wellness provider to test for safety.
